Meet the Thompsons

HI. Thanks for taking the time to check out the web site and to allow me to introduce myself. I'm Ben Thompson and I have the privilege of serving as the lead pastor.

Typically a biographical sketch helps people understand why someone is qualified to do what they do. While I have all the credentials and education, in my opinion that is not what really makes a difference. I'm here because I like helping people. I love to see people grow in their understanding of who they are, who God is, and how we can all work together to make our part of the world a better place. I work with a team of leaders here and outside this congregation to help accomplish this with others who have that same desire.

Personally I'm a guy who likes to enjoy life. I love being with my family and friends, and I love to make new friends. Some of my hobbies include playing and watching sports, riding motorcycles, reading, theater, and just hanging out with people. I am a life-long Steelers fan, and pull for the Penn State football team and the Pitt basketball team (since I didn't know PSU had a basketball team until I was in my mid 20s), and I no longer watch baseball but wouldn't mind playing again.

While my primary work has been in the church, I've also been an Emergency Medical Technician, a car salesman, a Realtor (still have my license), a small business owner, a manual laborer, and unemployed. I love spending time with friends in the military, law enforcement, and medical services as those have all been interests of mine.

That's a snippet of my life. What about you? I'd love to meet you and hear your story. Stop by my office some time (call first so we can schedule some time) or join us for a service. If you stop by on Sunday, please be comfortable since we prefer authenticity to religiosity. God loves the whole crazy bunch of us, so the sooner we figure out how to accept His love and get busy with our mission in life, the more fun we'll all have together.
